From the Lodge we are surrounded by endless choices for spectacular sailing adventures within hours of reach in every direction. Varying from the majestic Trollfjord with its steep walls and tropical waterfalls to the blue watered archipelago of Grøtavær, which also is an idyllic old fishing village, whereby the is the perfect spot to dive/snorkeling. We may take you out just for a day of sailing, or we may sail up to Bleik for whale watching.
We can tailor make any wishes from one day to the number of days you may want.
Onboard everything is included, depending on your time onboard we will serve food and provide a comfortable bed to your liking.
Either way, this is a fantastic opportunity to both learn some things about sailing and see some of the most beautiful and astonishing places in northern Norway. If we are lucky, we might even see some whales along the way.
"Alma" is a classical Norwegian "Hardangerjakt". She is a solid and sturdy vessel that is built for handling arctic conditions and is fully equipped with SOLAS safety equipment. She is also insulated and hence very dry inside without any problems with condensation. The home port of Alma is at the island of Frøya in the middle of Norway, and she is owned by Amundsen Adventure AS.
Under the deck, there is plenty of space, with a cozy galley midship and a big salon/orlop that ensures a social experience. In Alma, you get to experience life onboard the same way they did when Amundsen transited the Northwest Passage, but of course with modern facilities like three indoor bathrooms and showers.
Arctic Ocean Lodge is situated in Northern Lofoten on the island of Andøya, Vesteralen, 300km north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, where every 6 months the Northern Lights swap places with the Midnight Sun. A former historical fishing and trading post right on the water, Arctic Ocean Lodge has been converted into a charming lodge with all the modern amenities on-site. Accommodation is available in 3 separate buildings with privacy or community for groups from 2 to 30 people. There are docking facilities on-site for up to 10 boats with safe anchorage in all weather conditions as well as water and electric available. In addition to comfortable single, double, and triple rooms, Arctic Ocean Lodge offers waterfront wood-burning hot tubs, a private polar plunge beach, a restaurant with a stone pizza oven, and a full-service bar. You can just rest at your new home and admire the stunning fjord views or you can start a mountain hike right outside the door, go fishing with our motorboat, learn how to sail on our classic Norwegian sailing expedition vessel, try dog sledding/carting and meet the huskies at the adjacent farm, or do a yoga session on the porch/loft. Arctic Ocean Lodge is a short 20-minute drive to Risoyhamn Hurtigruten Pier and 1 hour from Andenes Airport and Sortland Bus Station. We can arrange transportation for group arrivals.
We are open all year round and are committed to exceeding expectations. The Amundsen Bar opens up for the public end June 2024.
